IT IS OK TO NOT BE OK

PROJECT 2: SOCIAL PASTICHE
DE STIJL
1917-1931
During my design journey I decided to use De Stijl as my historical movement inspiration because I liked the minimalist and simplicity that they used, while still having each design made be effective. After deciding my movement, I knew I wanted my social problem to be mental health so I created the sketch below and reformed it to my final design. I feel as though I was able to accurately portray De Stijl and show my inspiration from Bart Van Der Leck, while still making my design my own work. I decided to imitate and emulate the minimalist and symmetrical composition format from the De Stijl movement and continue the primary color scheme in my work as well. I also used Theo Van Doesburg's typeface as the font for my type. I think that I will continue to use the effective simplicity technique in my work because it allows me to make sure my designs I have are stronger, being there is less to work with, and lets me focus on what matters, rather than adding extra "fluff" that might not exactly pertain to my work.
